St.Laurent / Oak Point Manitoba Homecoming 2010

Ok, so you have probably heard some of the ads on TV or on the radio about Homecoming Manitoba 2010. You may also be wondering what exactly it is. Well, wait no longer. Homecoming Manitoba 2010 is an initiative put forward by the province of Manitoba to promote tourism and a sense of pride for Manitobans.

Unknown to a lot of people is the fact that a "social" is a predominantly Manitoba thing. It doesn't really exist in other parts of Canada or the world for that matter. As part of the Homecoming Manitoba 2010, St.Laurent and Oak Point have signed up to be host sites and participate in "the world's largest social" on Saturday May 15th 2010 at the St.Laurent Arena. Other communities in Manitoba will be holding a similar event at the same time, to try and set a world record. There are currently 59 communuties signed up to participate!!!

The St.Laurent/Oak Point social has two bands confirmed for the event. Circuit Breaker and The Gaudry Boys both have their own websites. Nice job guys!
The St. Laurent Steppers have been added to the list of performers for the evening. They will be hitting the stage at approximately 9:30 pm. Come and see even more of our local talent.
Tickets go on sale February 1st. Look for them at various locations in the two towns. Tickets will be $15. Stay tuned for more event details!!!
